Paris in spring: A city that comes to life

"When spring comes to Paris, even the humblest mortal must feel that he is living in paradise" - Henry Miller.

Paris, a city that is alive all year round, but takes on an extra shine in the spring. It is a time of awakening and a bustling life, almost in the same way as any other city, the only big difference being that Paris has something that the others don't. It makes me look forward to the next trip in a few months.

Just looking forward to a few days in Paris

I (we) are going to Paris on the weekend of 17 May and now I'm reading up on Paris in the spring and thought I'd share something with you. Perhaps you have wishes, dreams or have already decided that it will be Paris this spring. My wish, this time, is to "be a little extra French", and therefore I am also looking for some AirBnB offers. The requirements must be in areas that can be both close to the center and not least have the local charm.

I will also mix in some tips I have experienced from previous trips, so that the usefulness may be a little higher for you who read here.

Get to know Paris, use the sightseeing bus!

There are several options for sightseeing buses

The first thing I recommend to both you and all beginners is to take the sightseeing bus, which is a great way to get to know them.

Don't delay, spend a few hours already on the first day. You will find many alternative sightseeing buses at the Arc de Triomphe. These tours give you an overview of the city's layout and main attractions, and help you plan your stay.

The magic of spring in Paris

If you really want spring with a capital V, April is the month, then the air becomes soft and warm, and it is said that you can experience the sun's rays dancing through the cherry blossoms. In addition, wisteria lights up in pink and purple where they adorn both cafes, fences and houses, while they climb over shop windows and doorways in large parts of Paris.

The trees along the boulevards and avenues also come to life, and the city's pulsating rhythm resumes. Therefore, April is best and then May follows as a great alternative to travel.

NB! watch out for the summer Olympics in Paris from 26 July to 11 August. (2024 ) Then it will be both full and very expensive.

Bustling life in streets and parks This is the time for good shoes, or Hoka as many call it, and use them to stroll through the parks while sightseeing boats float along the Seine, past famous landmarks such as Notre - Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Conciergerie and the Musée d'Orsy and many other sights. .

Should you be lucky enough to feel the spring rain, don't think negatively, bring an umbrella and enjoy the sweet scent of the chestnut trees, while the sunsets paint the city in shades from pale salmon to burnt orange, providing a fantastic background for your selfies ;)

There are also great restaurants a little high up on top of the shopping centre, this can also be a great place in the late afternoons. Here are some suggestions:

Printemps Haussmann - This famous department store has a fantastic rooftop terrace with views of the city, including a view of the Eiffel Tower. Their restaurant and café area offer a wide variety of food choices.

Galeries Lafayette - Another iconic shopping mall that has an impressive rooftop terrace. Their gourmet floor and rooftop restaurant offer both shopping and dining experiences. We have been here before and are recommended. If you want to wait, reserve in time.

View from Galeries Lafayette

These places offer a good mix of culinary experiences and opportunities to enjoy Paris from different perspectives, whether you're looking for a simple, affordable bite or a luxurious dinner with a spectacular view.

Important about the museums' opening hours!

When planning a visit to museums, remember to check the opening hours, as some may be closed on certain days. This will ensure that you get the most out of your visit to this culturally rich city. Another tip is to book all tickets online so you avoid the worst queues. Sometimes they can pay a little extra and get a ViP ticket. Check online.

A wine lover's paradise

Legrand Filles et Fils

For wine lovers, Paris has several great wine shops. Check out " La Cave des Abbesses " in Montmartre or " Legrand Filles et Fils " near the Palais Royal for an impressive selection and expert advice. If you wish, you can stop the trip here and have a simple lunch and wine tasting. Certainly a pleasant way to spend an hour or two. If you are going to shop, just bring a "free" credit card.

Stay and enjoy in Paris

When it comes to accommodation, there is something for every taste and budget in Paris:

As mentioned, we will consider using AirBnB on this trip and there are lots of exciting options to choose from, from a couple of thousand to up to a hundred thousand.

For cafe experiences that are both authentic and charming:

Cafe Charlotte

These are not recommendations, as it is part of my research, but after my visit in May I will update with a new article.
